    Class description:

Kabbalah is said to go all the way back to the patriarch Abraham who is said to have received the Book of Creation (one of the oldest texts of Kabbalah) directly from the Divine.  It then transmitted orally through prophets and other mystics until it started getting codified in the 1000’s AD  (although mention of it is evident from a very early time). And although there are many other forms of this tradition it would be safe to say that the form it takes within the Jewish context would be the oldest. That does not mean however that one needs to be involved with Judaism, however this is the foundation of the practice.

In this introductory level class we will be discussing and experiencing the foundational realities as laid out in the Kabbalah. You will be introduced to the acts and interworking of creation and the mystical significance and understanding within Kabbalah, the Kabbalistic understanding of God, what it means and looks like to meditate in a Jewish mystical context, the Tree of Life, and its components. Along with this you will be introduced to various meditative principles and techniques to help grow or start your own meditative practice. Each class will culminate with one of these meditations.

This class is intended for those who have little knowledge of and who are interested in the Kabbalistic tradition.

    Teacher's Bio:

Throughout my short 27 years of life I have been a devout student of a sect of Judaism known as messianic Judaism, being granted the gift of being brought up in a family with a rabbi as a father.  As I worked out the spiritual path in which the Divine had orchestrated I found myself studying Tibetan Buddhism and Taoism all while growing in Judaism. Over time I found myself in a haze of this material existence losing all focus on the spiritual. Then, after finding the other half of my soul, (that is to say my wife) and a bit of a jostling in overall life, I found myself re-immersed in the spirituality of my youth.  This time, however, instead of Buddhism and Taoism, my primary focus was that of a Jewish mystical practice known as Kabbalah. It is here where I have spent about 5 years delving deeper and deeper into this mystical practice. It is my heart’s desire to bring this very misunderstood teaching to light and help others to grow in their spiritual walk and union with the Divine.

  • Join Laxmi Konwar and Laurie Gosselin at Vinyasa Yoga Studio for this Tantric Energy Healing: Chakra Series. Tantra is an ancient Eastern spiritual science using various techniques to merge with infinite consciousness and liberate primal energy. In each session, special attention will be given to one chakra starting with the Root Chakra.

Experience tantric practices like Mantra, Pranayam, Qoya, Yoga Nidra and Himalayan Bowls to connect to your inner wisdom and higher consciousness. Nourish your inner world and see what emerges for you. Release what no longer serves you and open your heart to new possibilities.

Qoya is a sacred movement practice based on the idea that through movement we remember. We remember our essence is wise, wild and free. Wise, wild and free also draw reference to the movement forms we practice like yoga and the creative expression of dance. Movement is an effective way to tap into your body's wisdom.

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a conscious relaxation and meditation technique. The practice of Yoga Nidra can help you feel more connected to yourself and your true nature. It is regarded as tantric practice. The sound and vibration of Himalayan Healing Bowls will deepen your experience as you are guided through each Chakra in the meditation.

    About Alaina

I began practicing asana (physical postures) in 2010 and meditation in 2013. Through these practices I’ve increased my physical awareness, mind-body connection, and sense of self. I’ve fallen in love with learning the yogic lifestyle and have come to know my dharma (sacred duty).

It is my wish to share with you my knowledge and wisdom and to tell you that, you can do yoga!

I started practicing yoga with Cristina in 2010 and I love her teaching style! Cristina offers a detailed asana instruction to both the individual and the group during her classes to offer a safe and mindful yoga practice. Her knowledge and love of movement are evident as she encourages each student to explore their practice and offers modifications to suit every body. I am grateful for the compassionate, caring instruction Cristina has provided me.
